Is Gambling really Up to Fortune or Chance?

December 30, 2009 :: Posted by - author :: Category - Gaming Guides

Most of the people feel that pre-eminence in gambling is precisely due to chance, or as many people would wish to consider it, “lady luck.”. Lots of gamblers like to think that if they win it is because they’ve been touched by Lady Luck. Although that also suggests that they’re going to have a lucky run as long as Lady Luck is on their side.

However that kind of belief is a kind of double edged sword. If it were right that Lady Luck was in charge of gambling success, therefore it diminishes any thought the player is having success because of his ability as a gambler. Madam Luck takes the whole thing out of the hands of the gambler and leaves it totally up to destiny. But if this is correct then why is it that certain winners aren’t truly consistent in their wins? How can they win one day and lose the next?

Statisticians will argue the reality of the situation is better explained mathematically to be more precise than by chance, or Lady LuckThey can quite logically explain the possibilities and possibilities of somebody winning at any certain time.

in fact many people who are scornful of gambling have a tendency to classify games like blackjack and roulette as being members of the gaming business rather than the gambling industry. By offering this variation, they can then say that those games are based more on mathematical stats rather than any sort of chance.

There is a issue if you subscribe to the idea that it is all Lady Luck. Not only does that hint at some sort of primitive way of looking at something, but it also means that irrespective of what the player does, his winning or losing relies on some part over which he hasn’t any power. If luck is with him he’ll win, if it is not, he’s going to lose. It can , weaken his ability to play intelligently.

Believing in the luck idea can even send some people into doing strange and unusual things. In other words, they may perhaps go to extremes to do certain things to “ward off evil spirits” that may interfere with Lady Luck. It can even go as far as to effect the colour of clothes that they wear when they play.

One thing to bear in mind, statisticians maintain that it is almost unachievable to get a royal flush. In fact, they are saying the possibilities of getting one are one in 649,739. This illustrates more than anything that most of the people will lose more than they will win. And that’s the whole basis of gambling… Losing.

So, keep that in mind. Losing is the standard in gambling and winning the exception. So long as you go into gambling with this concept in mind you will not have unrealistic expectations. But to think that Lady Luck is on your side and that you will come out a big winner, will only lead to disappointing results. The casino proprietor is the only one that constantly wins at gambling. That’s a guarantee.
