Easy Goer & Pat Day
Pat Day discusses Easy Goer… Ogden Phipps’ homebred Easy Goer had an impressive pedigree. He was sired by Triple Crown runner-up Alydar out of the champion mare Relaxing by Horse of the Year Buckpasser. Easy Goer was trained by Shug McGaughey. After winning a maiden race at Saratoga in his second start, Easy Goer went on to victories in the Cowdin and Champagne. He was named Champion 2-year-old of 1988. Easy Goer won his first three races at 3 and in the Gotham narrowly missed breaking Dr. Fager’s world record for the mile. Easy Goer’s second season was marked by his rivalry with Sunday Silence who defeated him in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. Easy Goer then came back in the Belmont Stakes to defeat Sunday Silence by eight lengths in 2 minutes 26 seconds, a time second only to Secretariat’s record of 2:24. Easy Goer’s 3-year-old season also included victories in the Travers and in the Whitney, Woodward, and Jockey Club Gold Cup where he defeated older horses. At 4 Easy Goer won the Gold Stage Stakes and the Suburban Handicap before a leg injury ended his racing career. Easy Goer was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1997. Race video donated by Ruffchamp1

Even the UNBIASED Californian expert Bill Christine said how dispicably bad Day’s riding was, and how Day made three huge mistakes to get him beat. 1)Much much too early machine gun move,2)Was outmanuevered for the stretch getting caught down in tight scraping the fence and being banged in even tighter,3)Jerked his head right before the wire to cost him

May 29th, 2010 at 6:02 pm
Pat Day, “I was on the better racehorse, back then and still today, and it was absolute rider-error.” Pat Day knows, but it is true that plenty more than just Pat Day knows and see it for themselves.
May 29th, 2010 at 6:29 pm
Pat Day KNOOOWS he was on the better and more-talented racehorse. And he most definitely knows that his awful rides got him beaten.
May 29th, 2010 at 6:44 pm
Easy Goer is the best since the Bid, the best horse in thirty years. Record speed, stamina. Only a few terribly bad rides cost him. Pat Day knows he was on the better horse, and knows that his terrible rides got him beat.
May 29th, 2010 at 7:12 pm
Easy Goer was amd will always be the better horse. Pat Day knows his terrible rides got him narrowly defeated, and Pat Day knows he was on the better horse.

If one doubts Day had golden oppurtunities to beat SS,well what about the fact that EG had the lead going into the stretch at Pimlico, and then they battled tooth and nail all the way to wire! What do we get from you? 3 freaking excuses for why EG lost! What about when Day put EG right on SS’s flank going into the far turn in the BC Classic? Once more we get endless excuses as to why EG fell short! You people are nothing more than a walking, talking Excuse machine,no more no less! LOL!!
May 29th, 2010 at 11:07 pm
Wow,I hear dribble like “this man knows”,actually you people act like someone clinging to a life preserver out in the middle of the ocean for goodness sake! Is it a surprise Day thinks EG was better? Actually it isn’t,because he was his only rider, and he developed a close bond to the horse! But the facts are clear, despite these so-called “horrible rides” by Day,EG still had every chance to win,but he didn’t! Not just once, but 3 times! But as usual you people cannot give SS his due respect! LOL
May 29th, 2010 at 11:10 pm
Champ explain to me what Arazi has to do with the never ending debate of who was better,SS or EG? Please I would like to hear your answer? Actually Arazi has nothing to do with it at all! You bring it up to try to muddy up the water! Remember Clown this is about SS and EG! Not Arazi! LOL!
May 29th, 2010 at 11:47 pm
Pat Day is one million percent right in this interview.
May 29th, 2010 at 11:50 pm
