Thats interesting to me! I am from Brasil and I always wanted to know, Who is faster? 45 and 50 for both? Here we use QH as well as Apendix for a Sport called Vaquejada in wich a man in a horse puts a bull in the ground by taking it by the tail!

thoroughbreds run between 45 and 50 thats a fact if you done your research you would know that quarter horses have raced thoroughbreds before and have been beat every time just to let you know

@kopkingstevie screw you. both breeds are wonderful. TBs are “prettyyy fast” endurance racers. QHs are the FAST sprinters. both are wonderful fine breeds. oh and btw, qh are americas most popular horse breed.

i have a QH! and boyyy she is fast as hell. qh rule!!!

I have been at that track once before! I don’t think I saw this race though.

The fastest TB ran at 45 MPH, while the fastest QH ran at 55 MPH. The QH’s are built with plenty of sheer muscle, giving them the body of a sprinter. TB’s are built lean, giving them more endurance but less speed. It all depends on what you prefer; I prefer QH’s because they’re pretty tough, but TB’s are amazing too.

What the fuck took the starter so long, to take the start?
March 11th, 2010 at 1:07 pm
TBs run at 40 mph and up
March 11th, 2010 at 1:21 pm
The two breeds are bred for different things, and they both excel at what they were bred to do.
They’re both fabulous horses.

QHs run about 50 miles per hour TBs olny run 30 something
March 11th, 2010 at 2:50 pm
throughbreds are a finer breed of animal sleeker body perfect muscle built for the mile not a quarter mile throughbreds would leave the quarter horse for dead after half mile

i dont like TBs sorry i love QHs tho. i watched the video of the tb and the qh race and the tb won but that was just one tb against one qh. who cares. QHs rule!

i would buy the 16.2 hh one O.O
haha the smallest horse iv ridden is a QH arabian mix shs 15hh haha alot of pple say i look big on her lol
March 11th, 2010 at 4:06 pm
Yeah lol my Arab is only 14.2hh so I’m glad I haven’t grown much yet. I do know one who’s 16.2hh, though.
March 11th, 2010 at 4:16 pm
i knew that they were bred for endurance but had no idea that they ran 100 miles iv always loved arabians but im too tall for them lol
March 11th, 2010 at 4:34 pm
Yup, that’s what Arabs were bred for. Arabic tribes galloped them across the desert all day and they don’t need much water. I’ve actually noticed that my Arabian drinks less water than my friends’ QH’s and TB’s.
March 11th, 2010 at 5:32 pm
ohhh…wow i didnt know cuz i havent seen or followed arabian racing :O but that would be one long race
March 11th, 2010 at 6:13 pm
Have you heard of endurance racing? Arabs do in fact race 5-10 miles. Endurance races can be anywhere between 5-100 miles.
March 11th, 2010 at 7:03 pm
im shure they would but i love TB’s
and im shue that arabians dont race 5-10 miles T_T they would win but that would be one long ass race and Qh racing is too short im shure a TB would give the QH a run for his money TB’s and Qh’s arnt too different in speed just in acceleration
March 11th, 2010 at 7:40 pm
Yeah I just watched that too and if the race had been a 1/4 mile instead of 1/2 mile the QH would’ve won for sure, just like an Arab would win over a TB if the race was 5-10 miles. They’re all fast in they’re own ways.

For those of you curious, the American Quarter Horse was named for it’s ability to sprint a quarter mile faster than any opposing breed. Thoroughreds, however, do have a lot more endurance, generally run for higher stakes, and is an all together far more common form of horse sport.
I don’t neccesarily condone either, but my quarter horse Denver came off the track, and he LOVES to run, and LOVES competing. ( even at the worst possible times. )
March 11th, 2010 at 8:54 pm
haha i just watched a vid of a QH vs a TB and the TB!!!! won
D i guess speed isnt the only factor
