I just do not understand why judges let race go on with drivers down and horses running loose.

flgby1 fyi the night before something happened to bartletts bike nd the bike he has ur supppost to send back before using it again if u watch carefully bartletts bike collapses on him then the horsee jumped. all bartletts fault

I know that some of these new bikes have had a few problems like this. Back in the 80′s Nassau, Pennsbury, and aluminum Brodeur sulkies would sometimes break and dump the driver. I never had any problem with my Jerald bike and have never seen one collapse.

I know it’s not a Jerald, if it were built like a Jerald it wouldn’t have collapsed. Something probably did happen to it the night before, but this isn’t the first Advantedge that has broke on a driver, they have a history of this. You would jump too if you had sharp bike parts hitting your legs. Shouldn’t have to send your bike away everytime something happens.

I cannot believe the race was not stopped. There was an ambulance on the inside of the track, or possibly even on it, and a horse going the opposite direction with no driver to control it. If it had crashed into any others in the home straight, there would have been a bigger incident than the one that occurred over the bcak. Not stopping the race was plain stupid. I would sack the stewrads panel at that meeting and get some that have a duty of care towards safety.

This video goes to show that harness drivers are worth so much more money than they are making. If the TOP harness driver in the sport earns $15 million in purses… that equates to $750,000/year. Compare that to the TOP baseball player or basketball player making $25 million/year. Then, take into consideration the “danger” factor and ask yourself, “Which athletes have it more difficult?” Other than bull fighting, harness drivers are the most deserving and least paid! Most unfortunate.

my name is chris heeney and im the grandson of ken heeney who if you know harness racing you know who he is. He died in a spill in 1986 at foxboro raceway. Your right they are way underpaid. I jogged for the first time at 9 and trained first time at 14. i wanted more then anything to be a driver but the insurance isint there and the pay isint enough. I didnt wanna end up widdowing a family like he did. I was 3 when he died. i wish i knew the man.
