Basketball fans, can you believe it, the NBA season is fast approaching as training camp begins on September 30th. Now lets take a look at the news from around the league. LA Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant announced that he would not undergo surgery on his damaged ligaments on his right pinkie finger. Kobe reported on his website kb24.com that his doctors told him his recovery time for the surgery would be 12 weeks. The 2007 League MVP did not want to miss any of the season while recovering and will play through the injury this season. The Lakers open play October 28th against the Portland Trailblazers. Lakers center Andrew Bynum told reporters that his knee is 100% and he is ready to go when training camp begins. Bynum missed the entire post season last year when surgery was required for his injured kneecap. The 20-year-old center said he is much stronger and faster as a result of his summer workouts in Atlanta with his personal trainer during the off-season. In 35 games last season Bynum averaged just over 13 points and 10 rebounds a game and showed tremendous improvement from his rookie and sophomore campaigns.
