Come on people – The President is expected to sign this Bill into effect on October 13, 2006.
Instead of making online gambling illegal – The USA should be regulating it and making revenue from it – providing jobs for US Citizens.
Give me some ideas on what to do.
I’ve already been to http://www.casinomeister.com and every where else I can think of.
I need some more ideas – I’ve written my state reps, I’ve written the White House – but what else can I do?
I don’t want the US to take control over the Internet – nor do I think it is right for the Govt. to decide what is MORALLY RIGHT or WRONG – based on religious belief.
I mean – it’s ok for Las Vegas, Bingo Halls, Race Tracks, etc. So why are they telling me what I can or cannot do in my own home?
ANY IDEAS or thoughts?

The act was passed Saturday, Sep 30. It prohibits online gambling by placing criminal sanctions on financial institutions and banks if they fund an entity involved in “illegal gambling” operations. Some things such as horseracing and fantasy sports have been carved out/excluded from the definition of illegal gambling, but common games such as poker and blackjack are hit.
I will admit my bias and say that this legislation is crap. The government should not be telling us what we can and cannot do with our own money. They say it’s to protect the children and to stop gambling addictions… there are many other less restrictive yet more effective means to protect children from gambling websites such as universal age-verification accounts (which could be implemented if the government looked into regulation instead of prohibition). As for addicts…. I’ve never heard an addict complain that he couldn’t find a place to gamble his money away. Taking this away doesn’t help the addiction
I personally think it’s horrible that the government is trying to stop online gambling. If the government is going to try to shut down online casinos they might as well shut down land casinos as well. But their not going to do that because they a lot of money off of the land casinos. With the online gambling they don’t.
From what I understand, online gambling is already illegal but impossible to enforce. What will happen when it becomes illegal for American banks and credit cards to transfer money to gambling websites? And also, do online betters report their earnings on their taxes? Has anyone who has made money with online gambling gone to prison for income tax evasion?
